Q: iPhone 6 battery issues

At the beginning of the year, my iPhone 6 started to have battery issues. It would turn off despite saying it had charge left and wouldn't turn back on until it was connected to power. It would then immediately turn back on once connected to power, saying they same battery percentage as when it turned off. It would also lose charge really quickly and sometimes the battery would drop incredibly quickly to under 5% and then stay at 1-3% for the best part of a day.

Restoring from a backup didn't fix it, resetting it to factory settings didn't fix it. When connected to diagnostics at the Apple Store everything appeared to be fine. It was only when the battery cut out during my 4th trip to the Store that the Genius gave up and replaced the handset, because it was obviously broken.

7 months on, the new handset has exactly the same issues. The problem I have this time is that it's now over a year since I took my contract out.

Has anyone else had this problem and managed to fix it?

Thanks
