Q: If I restore from time machine backup, does it delete recent backups?

I'd like to restore from a backup made a few weeks ago, and have backed up since. Will the most recent backups since then be deleted or altered, or remain intact just in case I need to go back to where I am now?

MacBook Pro (15-inch Mid 2009), OS X El Capitan (10.11.2)
