Q: How do I connect an external microphone to OXS Yosemite?

Hello,

I have been having issues connecting my NW-700 Microphone to my MacBook Pro (2014). The mic Hooks up to a Neewer Phantom power box And then to a TRS male microphone plug. I have an adaptor (TRS-TRRS). When I plug in the adaptor into my computer with or with out anything attached to the other end, I get HeadPhones in the output in system preferences and in the input I get Internal microphone. Does anyone know how to get the computer to see the external microphone?

OS X Yosemite (10.10.2)

Get in touch with the manufacturer for instructions.  If the mic is compatible with Macs and your os, they should advise you of such.

I have new information. I have tried using the microphone with my friend's Macbook (An older version) and my other friend's Mac book (same version as my friend) and when I pluged in the mic it worked instantly. As far as I know my one friend was using Yosemite as well, And I know my other friend was using El Capitan. I Have also Updated to Sierra. However I am running a different model Mac book than my friends, so could it be a hardware issue?
