sierra The installer payload failed signature check

I'm trying to install Sierra from the Apple Store and I keep getting this message: The installer payload failed signature check.

I checked my date and even executed this (ntpdate -u time.apple.com) and still have the same problem.

Any ideas?

Hello SparkyOn3,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. It's my understanding you've been receiving an error message when trying to install Sierra. I know it's important to upgrade to the latest software. I'm happy to help.

You've done a great job so far. Next, I recommend starting your Mac in safe mode and try to install. Starting in safe mode will allow your Mac to run certain check, delete cache, and prevent startup logins from launching. Use the steps below to start in safe mode:
  1. Start or restart your Mac.
  2. Immediately after you hear the startup sound, press and hold the Shift key.
  3. Release the Shift key when you see the Apple logo appear on the screen.

After the Apple logo appears, it might take longer than usual to reach the login screen or your desktop. This is because your Mac performs a directory check of your startup disk as part of safe mode.

To leave safe mode, restart your computer without pressing any keys during startup.

Try safe mode if your Mac doesn't finish starting up

If the issue persists in safe mode, it's possible a user setting or file is the cause. Try installing in a new user account. Use the link below for further assistance:

Have a great day!
