Q: Cellular and WiFi conflict

when I try and access data or update apps and both Cellular and WiFi are enabled the phone will time out.  If I disable one of the services it seems to work fine.

I am guessing there is some form of IP conflict but I am not sure what to do about it, has anyone else seen this?

I have seen the same behavior across several versions of the OS

iPhone 6s Plus, iOS 10.0.2

    Hello jdmyers,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. It's my understanding you're unable to update or access data when Cellular data and Wi-Fi are enabled. I know the transition between cellular data and Wi-Fi can be very important for many tasks. I'm happy to help.

If you haven't done so already, I recommend resetting network settings. This will take all network settings back default, including Wi-Fi networks and passwords, cellular settings, and  VPN and APN settings. On your iPhone go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Since the issue has persisted across several iOS versions, it's possible content is the cause. If the issue continues after resetting network settings, I recommend erasing your data and setting up as new. This will allow you to test the issue without your normal content. It's very important to back up your data before trying this step. Use the link below for back up assistance:
How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Once you've successfully backed up, follow the steps and the additional information from the link below:
How to erase your iOS device and then set it up as a new device or restore it from backups

After erasing and setting up as a new device, your device is now in a factory configuration. Re-try what you were trying when you first found the issue to determine if erasing and setting up as a new device resolved the issue. Content on the device might have caused the unexpected behavior.

    • If the issue persists, you might want to contact Apple Support.
    • If the issue is resolved, sync one type of content at a time back to your device. For example, if you had an issue playing music, add songs from iTunes and confirm that they will play. If your contacts weren't loading successfully, add the contacts back. After each sync, test to see if the issue has returned.

    Have a wonderful day!
