Q: I'm new to MS3 and using it with guitar. When I select a patch, the clean sound of my guitar comes through even with the master volume on zero. Turn up the master volume and I have the sound of the patch along with my clean sound. Can anyone fix this

I'm new to MainStage3 and using it with guitar. When I select a patch, the clean sound of my guitar comes through clearly even with the master volume on zero. Turn up the master volume and I have the sound of the patch along with my clean sound coming through loud and clear. Anyone know how to fix this?

    Hi

Most likely you have direct monitoring on within your audio interface

    Hi

Without knowing what interface you are using, it is impossible to answer.

Perhaps you should take a look at the manual for your audio interface?

Thanks. I don't think it's got anything to do with the interface, for two reasons.  1) I've just changed my interface from an M-box to a Scarlet, and it's done the same thing for both.  2) I've also used both these interfaces on GarageBand and the problem doesn't exist there. So the problem seems to be related to MainStage 3, rather than the interface.

If you hear the clean guitar even with the MS master volume turned down, it is unlikely that the problem is within MS itself.

As a test, go to Mainstage>Preferences>Audio

Change the output device to the Mac Built-in Audio.

Do you still hear the clean guitar signal from the Mac?

Do you have some other audio application running alongside MainStage?
