Q: Finder not loading

when booting my MacBook Pro running yosmite10.10.5, I had to reboot, and now finder won't load.   I get a pop up asking if I want to "don't reopen". Or. " reopen", and what ever I pick does nothing but pup that message up again.    Shat do I do?

MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.1), Wish I'd never upgraded to Yosemite

    Hi Jim in Dallas,

I understand that your Mac is having issues launching the Finder app. Try starting up the Mac into safe mode.

    What is safe mode?

Safe mode (sometimes called safe boot) is a way to start up your Mac so that it performs certain checks, and prevents some software from automatically loading or opening. Starting your Mac in safe mode does the following:

    • Verifies your startup disk, and attempts to repair directory issues if needed
    • Loads only required kernel extensions
    • Prevents Startup Items and Login Items from opening automatically
    • Disables user-installed fonts
    • Deletes font caches, Kernel cache and other system cache files

Together, these changes can help resolve or isolate issues related to your startup disk.

Try safe mode if your Mac doesn‘t finish starting up

You can also try forcing the Finder app to relaunch. Click on the  Menu and select Force Quit. Click on Finder and it should restart. Force an app to close on your Mac

Thanks for posting in the Apple Support Communities. These steps should have your Finder app working as expected. Have a great weekend.
