Trackpad not working in Windows 10 Anniversary

Hardware : MacBook Pro early 2011, 8GB ram, 750GB HD

Software : macOS Sierra, Bootcamp 6, Trackpad++

I have been using Windows 10 in a bootcamp partition for about a year now. When I upgraded to Windows 10 Anniversary the trackpad stopped working. Thinking that Trackpad++ might be able get things working again I reinstalled it again but with no success. I have done several searches on the internet with no success. I am hoping that somebody has come across this problem and fixed it with a simple solution as I see examples of people upgrading to Anniversary (though some have issues with disk drives). The only option I have at the moment is to revert back to the previous version.

Any solutions out there?

Your 2011 Mac does not officially support W10. You can try to download drivers for a different Mac (for example iMac17,1) using Brigadier (https://github.com/timsutton/brigadier) and run the specific installer for Trackpad2 by hand and test if it installs and works.

Thanks for the suggestion Loner T. Its a confusing situation because I had bootcamp installed when I was using Windows 7 and the upgrade to Windows 10 went smoothly - the only thing that didn't work was the multi-finger swipe gestures which appears to be a problem with bootcamp in general.

It was only when I upgraded to Anniversary version that the trackpad stopped working altogether. I tried your suggestion of using brigadier (though I needed a few tries to get it right) and found that the bootcamp version for most machines up to 2011 only worked on Windows 7. To get a newer version would necessitate the installation of bootcamp drivers for different hardware which in my mind has the potential to create a non-functioning bootcamp partition. I have currently got Windows 10 Anniversary running quite satisfactorily using a mouse - this is acceptable to me and will stay with it.

If anyone out there has more disposable resources I would like to hear from you if you have had any success in installing bootcamp drivers for hardware younger than 2011 on early 2011 hardware (my understanding is that it is the generation and not the specific model that is key here).

Create a Windows System Restore point to allow a rollback, then install just the Trackpad driver manually. If it does not work, roll back to the Restore point.
