Q: Syncing ipad with itunes on PC

I updated my ipad to IOS 10.0.2 yesterday and now my ipad won't sync with itunes on my PC. I keep getting the message "iTunes could not connect to the iPad "ipad name" because an invalid response was received from the device."

Itunes is telling me there was a recent sync which I think was just before I updated the IOS but I can't be sure. I tried changing the cable or using a different USB port but that did nothing.

Has anyone else had this issue? Did you have any luck fixing it?

Sorry to hear your having so much trouble. Let's go down the list and see if we can figure this out for you.

    1. Make sure Windows is all up to date.

    2. Make sure iTunes is up to date.

    3. Check for third party security SW. May have to disable it.

    4. Does the computer see the ipad? If so, not likely an issue with the cord or USB port, but still possible.

    5. Does the cable and computer work with other device? Does the device work with another computer?

    6. Is there any damage to the port on the device that the cable plugs into? Or any other damage to the device? Liquid or dropped ?

    7. Have you tried to uninstall and reinstall iTunes? Follow this article Remove and reinstall iTunes and related software components for Windows 7 and later - Apple Support

    I agree with @Peizoandme's analysis.

Of that list, the likely culprit is having an up-to-date iTunes.

You must use iTunes 12.5.1 or later to communicate to iOS 10.  Check that first.

Thank you for the responses. It turns out itunes was the culprit. It kept telling me my software was up to date but that didn't solve the issue. I uninstalled and re-installed it and voila! Its working again. Thank you both for your help
