Q: unable to direct itunes to

Since reinstalling windows due to a system crash I have reinstalled iTunes and had backed up my media files.  Now I'm unable to direct iTunes to that folder and it refuses to recognise the media stored there. Can anyone help please? I have tried the advanced settings and changing the pathway but it hasn't  worked
