You cannot. Apple does not support downgrading.

It isn't. Apple is no longer signing iOS 9.x, so you would never be able to verify the install and activate the device. You are looking at hacks on YouTube. Not a good idea, and it voids your licensing agreement with Apple, so the device would no longer be supported.

what do u mean that it voids my licensing agreement? i dont recall anything about updates...

and if so...what about my rights as a consumer  to have my iphone working at full capacity?? i phone 5 is too old for ios 10 it is way too heavy and is jus cant support it! apple should warn customers about what update will do to their phones and ALLOW them the option not to update(without the stupid pop up update no!!) every 5 min!

anyway back to my updating! i would be downgrading to an apple ios system! where is the harm in that!?

Apple has never supported downgrading on iOS devices. This isn't new.

You can let Apple know how you feel here:

Given that some concerted feedback campaigns have lead to changes, I'm pretty sure they do. However, I think it's rather unlikely that they'll make the particular change you want.

They do but it doesn't necessarily mean they agree with your request. I highly doubt they will allow iOS downgrade.

The licensing agreement for you to use the phone says that you cannot alter, which is what a downgrade would be. You would have to hack the device/iOS to downgrade since Apple does not support that and is no longer signing the older iOS, therefore the breach.

If you feel there should be changes in the way Apple does things, then you need to provide feedback. They do read all of the feedback, and as Meg has mentioned, feedback has lead to some changes. You do have the option not to update, however if your device is capable of updating, you will receive the notification.
