1st Gen Lost Remote
I just picked up a 1st Gen Apple TV and it comes up on my tv just fine. However, I did not know it needed a remote, which was not part of what I got. I have done lots of research and found that I could either:
- buy a new remote (am I am not sure of the ones I found are compatible with the 1st get)
- use the remote app (only available for mac, which I don't have)
- use an android remote (tried several, but none of them connects to it), or
- program a 3rd party remote (like my directTV remote). The problem is that every set of instructions that I find requires the original remote in order to make it work.
The questions are as follows:
- If I do not have a remote, how do I program a 3rd party remote?
- Is there an official Apple Remote app for android phones?
The Google Android TV app seems to be the closest, but since my Apple TV is not on my wifi network and does not seem to have bluetooth setup, it does not connect. - Is there a cheap Apple TV remote for sale somewhere that will work for the 1st Gen?
