Q: 6+ ios 9.1

Hello,

I currently have ios 9.1 and am looking to get ios 10. Before I do so, I have to download ios 9.3.5. My iPhone keeps saying "Software Update Failed". So, I tried restarting my phone, but it continues to say the same thing. I looked up other people questions with similar problems and it says to try updating on iTunes. The problem is my iTunes says my iPhone is up to date with the latest ios (ios 9.1). I have the latest version of iTunes and it still doesn't work. It also said to go to Settings>General>Storage & icloud usage>Manage Storage, scroll down to ios update and delete it and re-download it, but "ios update" is not an option in my apps list. So at this point I'm not really sure what else to do. I also reset network settings and it didn't work so then I reset all settings and it still doesn't work. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I've tried everything.

Thank you

Your issue is that you have "the latest version of iTunes" ... for your operating system, which is undoubtedly very old.

iOS 10 requires iTunes 12.5.1 or later to communicate to it.  This version of iTunes requires at least Windows 7 or OS X 10.9.5.  Do you have a qualifying operating system?  Probably not.

    Get it if you can.
