Q: Why does the appstore keeps asking for apple ID password before I can download free updates, and it doesnt work, it just keeps taking the password, a moment passes, and then it asks for the apple ID password again, and the update is never downloaded?
Why does app store app keep asking for my apple ID password so I can download free updates. I enter my apple ID password, the app store accepts it, then it asks for it again, and the update is never downloaded, it just keeps accepting my apple ID password and not doing anything, and then asking for it again. I have a 13¨ 2015 macbook pro with retina display. I have logged out and back in of both itunes and app store app using the same mac ID
MacBook Pro, iOS 10.0.2, 13" Retina Display

Apps are locked to the ID that initially purchased them. YO have to log into that ID to update them
It appears that at least one of the apps yo are updated was purchased with a different ID.
Try update the apps one at a time to find the app(s) purchased with a different ID.
