Q: I have an update notification but can't update
i have a MacBook from 2015 & im currently using Sierra as my operating system. since I got this computer a little over a year ago I never used i photo primarily because I hadn't synced my iPhone because I would lose everything on it that I had loaded from cds I burned & my last macbook crashed and the genius that I am never backed it up so I didn't want to lose all my music especially because in Apple's infinite wisdom removed the disc drive so I can't even reburn the disc. Well when I got a new phone & using old basically as a iPod but now that I'm sync'd to the computer I see that iphoto isn't even used. Just regular photo. Well I still for some reason have it on my laptop. I can't open it & when I try do update it won't let me. I enter my Apple ID & it says incorrect Apple ID. I've only ever had 1 apple Id maybe 2 if you count the fact I changed my email address. So I'm not sure why the app has an update or why my Apple ID is the incorrect one to authori the update. I am just starting to get really annoyed at the constant update notifications telling me I need to update and then not letting me and the fact there is constantly the red badge icon showing that I have an update available any thoughts on how I can fix this?

iPhoto was replaced by the Photos app. Your iPhoto library updates automatically to Photos > Updating from iPhoto to Photos for OS X - Apple Support
In the future, help for backing up iTunes content > Manage and back up your iTunes media library - Apple Support
Help for syncing your iPhone via iTunes > How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support
For iTunes past purchases ...
Sign in with the Apple ID that you used to buy the item that you want to redownload.
Use these steps to see which Apple ID you used to download an item.
