Apple Music
Q: iTunes Storage on iPhone
I'm hoping Apple Music (which I've had since it came out) will allow me to store fewer music files on my iPhone. Isn't that the idea? I am reluctant to delete music off my iPhone for fear that it will be deleted from Apple Music entirely.
...and I have a similar issue with Photos.
Thanks in advance.

Hi toddfromheber,
It sounds like you have questions regarding how storage is used on your iPhone now that you use Apple Music. While any music made available offline will use storage on the device, music streamed via Apple Music will temporarily utilize device storage. These would be considered cached files or cached data that will automatically be deleted. This process allows you to utilize more of the device storage for other resources. If you are concerned with running out of space on your device, see the articles below for ways to optimize storage.

You also have the option to optimize photos via iCloud Photo Library. Take a look at the article below for more information on this feature. If you are concerned with losing photos, you can always import them to your computer via the steps in the second link below.
