apple display connector to mini displayport

Hi all,

I have a 20″ Apple Cinema Display:

It has 10 pins.

All the adapters I have found online have 8 pins.

I would like to use this display with my MacBook Pro (newest model).

Does anybody know what adapter I would need?

Thanks very much for any help!

If your display does not have an AC power cord, the Apple DVI-to-ADC adapter WITH Power supply is required to both convert and power your display. I use one for a 30-in cinema display on a 2009 Mac Pro silver tower. The power brick is left in the middle of the full cable, so It makes the display cable look like a snake that just had lunch.

These are available on the used market. Mine was purchased that way and has lasted for many years. There are also third-party equivalent adapters, (but you MUST choose a powered adapter -- just converting the signals will not do it if your display does not have its own power supply).

The Apple DVI-to-ADC connector turns your display into a self-powered DVI display. It is the exception to the rule that you can never "stack" adapters. In this case, you CAN use an additional adapter (a Mini DisplayPort-to-DVI adapter) to get your Mac to produce a DVI signal.

If your display is wider than 1920 wide, you may need the US$100 Apple Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI adapter, to create the Dual-Link DVI signal from the computer.
