Q: Upgraded to Sierra -caused problems-worked with Apple Suppervisor bust something got lost in translation.  How do I get my MESSAGE to regozize SMS contacts...They come up as PINK and will not send.  Thanks.

    Hi Gail,

    I see from your post that you're looking to send and receive SMS messages from your Mac running macOS Sierra. I'd be glad to help you get this working!

    Take a look at the following information to get this feature set up:
     

    Send text messages to anyone from your Mac

    If you have an iPhone with an active celluar plan, you can set up Messages to send and receive SMS and MMS messages from your Mac. Such messages don't require the recipient to be using iMessage or an Apple device.

    1. On your iPhone, go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive. Add a check to your phone number and email address.
    2. On your iPhone, go to Settings > Messages > Text Message Forwarding, then choose to allow your Mac to send and receive text messages from this iPhone. 
    3. Check your Mac for a verification code, then enter that code on your iPhone.

    To get all of your iMessage and SMS/MMS messages on all of your Apple devices, you can set up the SMS and MMS feature of Continuity.

    Many thanks.  I knew it was difficult and had done it before, but your response was more "right on" than the Apple support person I was chatting with.  So...again many thanks.  I knew the problem di have a fix, just could find it!  Next time I will stop by here! ;-)
