Macbook Pro Mid-2012 RAM upgrade

Hey there,

I've got a Macbook Pro Mid-2012 (A1278) MD102xx/A 13.3"

8 GB Memory 1600 MHZ DDR3

2.9 GHZ Intel Core i7

I would like to upgrade my RAM memory to 16GB. However, Im stuck with whether I should go with OWC or Crucial... I was thinking about the Corsair Vengeance (CMZ16GX3M2A1600C10) but heard about problems with mac compatibility and speed. I dont care about the price range Im willing to invest in more RAM, would just like to know if one brand was better than the other. If you've got other brand suggestions let me know. Canada bound btw!

Yeah, no sweat, eh. Macs, all macs tend to be a wee bit picky on what RAM they can and will use, speed, pins, type, etc. Not just any ram will do. See if you can find a vendor who will offer a lifetime guarantee and can swear that the RAM is 100% mac friendly no problem. I've heard good things about CanadaRam, and have used them once or twice.

Crucial or Macsales would be okay, too. I bought RAM for my desktop Mac pro from memory express, but I had to make darn sure it was the right type and from a reputable vendor, and it was, but I had to specially order it as it was "Server Ram" whatever the heck that means. You can do this upgrade yourself, too. just remember that there is an order to the screws on the back, the two back right ones are the longest. I made a square out of masking tape as I upgraded the ram and took the screws out, I put 'em on the tape in the order that they came out, so when it was time to put 'em back, there they were. I didn't think of that idea, but a friend told me about it, and it seemed to be a good idea, so I used it...

anyways good luck to you
