Q: Folder Open Animation in iOS 10

The new animation for opening app folders in iOS 10 makes me feel dizzy and causes eye strain after a short period of time.  Specifically, it's the rapid 'un-focus' of the background elements.  I use my iPad for work, and this change it making it really hard to use folders at all.  Is there a better place to post this feedback?  It really needs attention quickly.

These are user-to-user forums, if you want to try leaving feedback to Apple : http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html

You could also try turning Settings > General > Accessibility > Reduce Motion 'on' or 'off', depending upon what you currently have it set to

To clarify is this what you mean by un-focus. I have a iPad 4 and wonder if I'm seeing the same thing as you. Thank you.

    Tap the e-bay folder.

To describe in words takes 2D animation terminology - like an old Bugs Bunny or Mickey Mouse cartoon

    - using your ebay folder...

    • Think of the "desktop background" as the backdrop on a stage and you are the "camera" in the front row
    • The HomeScreen icons are "sprites" (actors) ON the stage standing right in front of it
    • Tapping the icon begins an animation that "transitions" between the two states called "tweening"
    • Movement occurs in "position" and "opacity"
    • *0* opacity = invisible (like the HomeScreen at the end) - *100%* opacity is what it says (like the ebay folder at the end)
    • The ebay folder and its contents appear to "zoom" in size from the icon to the folder "flying" from the icon's position to the folder's position center-screen - as if the actor is 'running' to the front of the stage where the camera (your perspective) is.
    • BOTH of these two sprites do these animations simultaneously over time like a musical score on paper or a 'scrubber bar' on a video window

A "cut" would be instantly change between the two states, which is what the OP wants

I know that there is a setting on MacOS that toggles this kind of animation On & Off

Hi. In addition to Reduce Motion, you can enable Settings > General > Accessibility > Increase Contrast > Reduce Transparency, which makes things really stark.

Thank you CCC. It looks like a trip to the Apple Store is in order to check out all the new features my iPad didn't get.

    A pleasure.

Excuses, excuses... we ALL wanna go play - and if that is your story, I think you should stick to it.
