notes app deleted by accident

I seem to have deleted the notes app by accident. I think I was on ios10 when it happened but it could have been before i upgraded from ios9. I noticed there was an empty space on my home screen, but it went several weeks before I relized what was missing. I have tried to restore older backups but they are just a week or two old, so it does not restore notes app or any of the notes I had.

So are all my notes lost forever now? I have had notes through several iPhone upgrades all the way from the first iPhone. Never imagined it was so easy to loose everything.

You can retrieve the Notes app by redownloading it via the App Store. Alternatively, you can find all of your notes on the Notes app at icloud.com (via a browser).

The Apple Notes app comes with the iOS, there is no download available.

Try:

- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

- Can you find the Notes app uses the Search feature?

- Can you access your notes by going to icloud.com on a computer browser?

- Reset all settings

Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.

All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.

- Backup and restore from backup. See:

I'm not sure what you're on about. With the advent of iOS 10, one can now delete (or rather "remove" is the correct word) native apps. If such apps are needed again, one can go to the App Store and re-download them.

To prove it, in addition to the many other native apps I have chosen to remove, I just deleted ("removed") the Notes app. My test note was still available at icloud.com. Went into the App Store and re-downloaded app. 😐

Correct! So I must have removed notes after upgrade to ios 10. The problem is all my notes are gone. Notes app has now zero notes. And there are no notes on iCloud. (I had notes that are older than iCloud itself, and never moved them to iCloud.

If you're not seeing the Notes at icloud.com you may have to restore from a backup.
