Q: mac mail ~ gmail account
Hi,
I've just added another gmail account to my apple mail. For some reason I can't 'take this account online'. I have one other gmail account set up in my apple mail and it works fine. I've compared settings in both and they seem the same.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

after sifting through the forum for answers to this I found the solution given by LooseNeutral in this thread. In the google mail inbox was an email sent as a warning that a sign in was attempted by a 'less secure app' and gave me the option of turning on access for 'less secure apps' which I did. Google obviously doesn't want you to use a third party mail program. I don't remember having this issue when I added my first gmail account to my apple mail a while back. Oh well, issue solved... but not without less hair on my head ha ha. Here is a screen grab of LooseNeutral's answer/solution...
