Q: I have two apple id's and need to delete one to use the email address as my primary

I created a second Apple ID a couple of years ago since since I couldn't figure out how to delete my original one. I don't have access to the original ID email address and am trying to update the newer one as my primary account but do not want to have two ID's. I tried using my original ID and adding my main email address but since the second ID is attached to that one it will not allow me to add it. Any help would be appreciated.
