Printer "backend" failure using wifi

Looks like an old problem has come back to haunt MacOS


Cannot print over wifi to Samsung c460fw and Samsung scx-4623FW


Getting weird results from three mac devices (IMac, MacBook and MacBook Pro)


Only the MacBook pro was upgraded to MacOS Serra V10.12 (other too old)


Focusing on MBP and scx 4623fw

  • reset printers
  • copies driver from Samsung
  • reinstalled through system prefs printers
  • demo print and printer pauses and backend failure msg.
  • I can access and print from Safari going over wifi
  • I can print using the Samsung app from ipad

Some of the very old cures (old meaning 2010 and older OS) do not see appropriate.

Believe its a MacOS issues but unable to work around ...yet

Suggestions or comments.
