Mr Clean Magic Eraser- Some Questions

Hi guys,
on this board a of ppl recommend the erasure. Since I am in INDIA and would order it via ebay, can someone please tell me a) what version to use? There is original, extra power, duo etc.

b)How exactly does one use these? I know you are suppose to wet one portion and then apply it but can they be re-used?

c) A guy from ebay is selling me 4 pads for around 3$ and shipping is 10$.

How long would these 4 pads last? Does it come in a packing of 4pads?

This is what the ebay seller wrote to me:

"I can send four pads out of the box so that they fit in an envelope with the package folded up by Global Prioriy Mail for 11.50 shipping. The box of four pads is $3 for a total of $14.50 USD. "

Is this okay?

Sorry for such basic questions but I have never come across them in INDIA so have no clue 🙂

Also a totally seperate topic but have anyone used those USB Vaccum cleaners on the macbook? I have some dirt under the keyboard and its drving me crazy!

Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Just use the original one. It's basically a block of foam that's rectangle shaped and the same on all surfaces. You don't need (or really want) any of the extras that the others versions have.

You have to wet them but squeeze out most of the water (just so they're damp). They're really like a sponge. They'll last forever just cleaning a MacBook. You really don't want to rub hard on the surface because there is a mild abrasive and you don't want to scratch the finish. I basically just wipe mine down. But I have a black one and I'm not really cleaning the dirt off so you might need just a little "elbow grease." Just don't over do it. Use as little pressure as you can.

4 pads ought to get you pretty far. Of course you'll probably find another use for then and they might go faster. These things are amazing. I clean everything with them.

As far as the cost goes I have no idea. I just get them at the store and really didn't even look at the price. I suppose with the shipping you have to pay they're more expensive but that doesn't seem too out of line.

hey
If you are looking for something to clean the wrist area with u should buy a protection pack from marware this way you can forget about clean. I have it on my black macbook it comes in black and white and comes with a microfiber keyboard cover that u can also use to clean the screen. I works great the wrist pad does not effect how the computer closes nor does the microfiber cloth when left inside although if u use it a lot it does get oily and leave a rectangle on the screen this freaked me out but i washed the cloth in the wash then cleaned the screen and it came right off so if your computer gets dirty make sure you throw the cloth in the wash every month or so. you can find it at www.marware.com

p.s. i dunno how to get the link to work so u have to copy and paste it sorry

The Magic Eraser worked for me on my MacBook (gently applied, as noted above) and it seems that they'll last nearly forever if just used for this. While the retail price quoted seems about right, I'd question their value if that's the price your looking at for postage. Do you really need them couriered to you? Wouldn't regular post do? They are verylight and not all that bulky. And is there not a store in Mumbai (or wherever) that might specialize in 'import' groceries and products for expats that might carry it?

Finally, once cleaned, I then bought a MacTop Keyboard Shield (a fitted rubber membrane that is applied over the keys and palmrest area) and this works well to keep it clean.

Oh, and I've heard people have had some success using Turtle Wax (car polish) on the glossy exterior of their MacBooks to cover minor scratches and to protect its finish. I'm guessing any carnuba wax might be effective here.
