Q: Organising Mail folders

In Mail on my MBP, my email folders are organised by type.  So I have:

Inbox

Email account 1

Email account 2

Email account 3 etc

Sent

Email account 1

Email account 2

Email account 3 etc

and so on,

Then I have

Email Account 1

Folder 1

Folder 2

Folder 3 etc

This to me is logical and how I would wish it

However on my iMac, I have

Email Account 1 Inbox

Folder 1

Folder 2

Sent

Junk etc

and for the life of me I cannot figure out how to change the iMac to match the MBP.  I am clearly having a senior moment, but could some kind person point me in the right direction.

Thanks

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X El Capitan (10.11.1), 512GB flash storage; 8GB RAM

What type of account is it? iCloud, Gmail, internet provider account, etc?

It sounds like something is misconfigured on the iMac. If it is an IMAP-type account where all the messages are stored on the server (which it looks like from your description), you can just remove that account on the iMac, then re-add the account. It should configure it correctly to show everything like your other Mac.

Thanks Barney - that sorted it.  Not sure how it had happened but fixed now.
