I bought tickets for a couple of shows and put them in Passbook, which is very convenient, but I'm a bit bugged about the fact that the events I bought tickets for don't automatically appear in Calendar. I can't seem to find a way to sync these, while that seems rather basic to me...

No, that's not an automatic feature. The site you bought the tickets from may offer the ability to add an event to your calendar. Fandango, from which I've bought movie tickets does, as an example.
