Q: Need help with iMac

This afternoon, I updated my iMac OS to macos Sierra. Update went smoothly and after everything was set up and i was at my desktop, my cursor started to lag a bit and froze up every few seconds. Thinking it was a problem with my mouse i unplugged and plugged my mouse back in but it turns out it was actually the computer. This lag continued for about a minute or 2, then the iMac just restarted. It has went through loops and loops of restarts and I have no idea how to go about fixing this.

Would greatly appreciate if someone could help me here!

problem here is that I can't really do much after I start up the mac before it starts to lag out and restart, takes about 1-2 mins for it to start lagging out and restart. Can barely use any applications

Try startup up in Safe Mode, as per > Try safe mode if your Mac doesn't finish starting up - Apple Support then see if it will startup normally.

If it does, then let it sit and run without using it for a short time until several of the new CPU intense Sierra background tasks have finished. You can check on those CPU intense background tasks by using the CPU tab of your Activity Monitor.

FWIW It may also help speed up the background tasks, if you quit other open App's and any that are set to open at login.
