No SIM

Hi,


I have an iphone 6. A few days ago, my status bar started saying No SIM. I restarted my phone, tried putting it into airplane mode and then back on, took out the SIM card and put it back in, and finally downloaded the update for iOS 10. The update seemed to work for about a day and a half until this morning, when the No SIM message came back. I've retried restarting/airplane mode/SIM card removal and nothing has worked. Does anyone have any other ideas that have worked? I know that the next steps are to go to my carrier (Verizon) and then the Apple Store, but I'm trying to avoid that if possible due to my schedule. Thanks!
