There aint no option for homesharing on my ipod touch. How do i get around this? - I have tried edit and it does not show up here.

Also when i try to connect with my remote no "Remote" button shows up. I've tried nearly everything.

I had this issue recently and finally solved it. I was unable to see the library I wanted to share from any device--including iOS devices AND other MacOS devices. I kept going into iTunes preferences to turn sharing off and on. That did nothing. The solution was to go the iTunes File > Home Sharing and select Turn On Home Sharing. This is what finally prompted me to log into my itunes account. Once I did that, the library I wanted to share was visible on all devices.

hope that helps anyone still struggling.

I assume this the iPod 6th gen you are referring to?

In Settings app, there is no Home Sharing options under both the Music prefernces panel and the Videos preferemces panel where you can login with your Apple ID?

In Settings Anything in the iTunes prefences panel for Homesharing, any place there to login in with your Apple ID?

Does the Home Sharing feature show up under the latest iTunes 12.5.1?

Have you activated this on iTunes on your computer and logged into your Apple account by logging in with your Apple ID and password?

There is however not a hit of it in my Music-app.

And yep i have activated it and nothing happens to my computer when i try to add the remote.

How to actually use Home Sharing from your iPod. First, make sure your computer is on with iTunes running, and that you're on the same Wi-Fi network as your computer. This is usually the problem.

If you've done that, then according to this article:

Use Home Sharing to share iTunes content with other devices - Apple Support

You first enable Home Sharing on your iPod (which sounds like you've done) then open the Music (or Video) app and under Library you should see "Home Sharing". If you don't see it, tap "Edit" and see if it has been turned OFF (i.e. hidden).

If you do not see the Home Sharing option at all, even on the Edit menu, then turn Home Sharing OFF on your iPod and your iTunes library. Just for kicks, shut down iTunes and reboot your computer, then re-start iTunes and turn Home Sharing back on. Now try to turn Home Sharing back ON on your iPod. Hopefully this will let you access your library, and it should resolve your other issue with connecting the Remote app to your library (and AppleTV if you have one).

Home Rip off is a better heading!! Home sharing is just that as long as your in distance of your net. What about music you bought somewhere else and try to put on your phone, iPad or any other apple product? How do you get that to play? I'm not going to rebuy music I already bought years ago just to play in it iTunes I'd rather go back to an android phone and use any free app

So if you're not on your own Wi-Fi, how would you propose accessing media that's at home?

Apple does have a different solution though, it's called "iCloud Music Library" where your library is in the cloud and accessible by any of your iOS devices or computers where you have internet access.

You don't have to rebuy your music, just add it to iTunes (as long as it is a compatible format, most are supported). Once in your library, then sync the music to your device or manually drag and drop from the library to device, or if you use iCloud Music Library then it is available there.
