Pages vs Google Docs

Okay, so recently I got a MacBook Pro. I had been using word for all my life, but I decided to cancel my subscription, since my new mac would come with Pages. When I got my new Mac, I was ecstatic 😀. The only problem is that I don't know anymore if I should use Pages instead of google drive, which is what my friends use. Given that this is an apple-influenced chat board, I would appreciate it if you guys gave me a couple of reasons on why I should be using pages instead of google docs or word, to make me feel inspired to use the software, since I have not really used it before, but am eager to use it.

That is hardly exhausting your choices.

There are many other Office Suites or Word Processing Apps.

I played briefly with Google Docs but found it rather weak and I hate using it in a browser which you have to specifically set-up to let you use it off-line.

Pages '09 is a terrific amazingly productive combination of Word Processing, DTP, Drawing, Charting and Spreadsheet. Unfortunately Apple has superseded it with Pages 5 and now 6, chopping off a long list of features and forever churning the file formats, creating totally unnecessary incompatiblities on the Mac, let alone with Windows.

LibreOffice [free] is a good but not perfect alternative.

It all comes down to what you want to use it for. Since Pages, LibreOffice and Google Docs are all free it is up to you to try them and see if they suit you.

We are not you.
