We do know what the Xserve G5 is... and saying it was designed by the Apple company is all sorts of weird...

Are you wanting to build a 2.0 version of the Xserve?
The best I have is to talk to Apple.

I think Xserve servers will work with OSX specifically the RAID, G5 and Xeon vesions considering they were discontinued when OSX was released. Macintosh servers are incompatible with OSX (tell me if I'm wrong). I don't know on the g4s.

At present the closest available to the discontinued Xservers is one of two options:

• For a self hosting solution, have a look at http://www.precursor.ca/rais/ which will cost less than a Xserve, but performs enviably depending on the quality of the Mini's.
• Another is to have a look at https://macminicolo.net/ which have recently merged with https://www.macstadium.com/ to create a powerful external hosting solution.

No Mac sold today - or for the last few years is designed to be rack mountable. Due to this lack, a number of enterprising third-party companies have created kits to rack mount standard current Macs predominantly the Mac mini but also the round Mac Pro.

It is/was possible to run El Capitan and its matching Server.app on the 2009 Xserve. Sierra however does not support any Xserve model.

It is not legal to run OS X nee macOS and hence Server.app on non Apple made computers. This means you cannot legally buy a PC rack mount server and run Apple's software on it even if this might be technically possible.

As also mentioned, some companies will rent you a Mac located in their data centre.
