Q: iPad 3 64GB WiFi Only: Li-ion 3.7V A1389 Battery Malfunction
So, I purchased an iPad 3 64GB WiFi Only Model A1416 White color I believe, about 2 years ago to date as a refurbished item through ebay.com.. Now, the iPad was experiencing similar glitch issues to the ones that have been stated/asked about in previous topics here in the community. Like those who spoke of the iPad acting up in the way of locking and unlocking sporadically, as well as opening and closing random app's while not being touched, I experienced those issues... However, earlier today, my A1389 3.7V Li-ion Battery that was in this particular iPad 3 began to overheat, and emit a very faint electronic hum/squeal. I touched the back of the iPad with my bare hands, and was almost burned. There has been previous damage to the iPad AFTER purchase, such as cracked screen due to impact related damage. What I am wondering, is whether or not the battery which did overheat and begin to expand, so I promptly ripped it out of the inside of the back of the iPad, in fact overheated due to previous damage, or has there been other people who are experiencing similar overheating issues..?
Thanks everyone!
