Notifications with carplay on iOS10

Hi there,

i cant get whatsapp to show notifications if i use carplay. iMessage works. Is this by design? I read some posts that suggest that notifications for whatsapp are working before iOS10, but evry suggestion i found so far does not solve the problem for me.

Sending messages using siri and whatsapp works great (after a few problems at the beginning, but an update seems to have solved that).

Bye and thanks!

Nino

Is there any new developments here? I have a new 2017 Chevy truck and CarPlay is good but push notifications sounds are muted. Whats the point behind that? Text messages work with audio but push notifications don't. Is there a fix or is this another bug with CarPlay? If its a bug its a bad one. Whats the point of using CarPlay if you don't get push notifications.

This is crazy. CarPlay will only play notifications from a handful of apps. I need to receive notifications from other apps or CarPlay is useless.

is this lazy programming? Or lawsuit avoidance?

if the latter, I get it but at least let the notifications play from the device itself, as it would if CarPlay was not connected. As it stands CarPlay actually MUTES all non-blessed app notifications. Rendering it useless to many if not most. Who decided texting was more important than email Or WhatsApp?

apple, please fix this! or respond to this and let us know why you don't plan to fix it.

Hi there, DerLexus!

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities! It sounds like you are having issues with notifications on CarPlay. I know how important it si to be sure CarPlay works properly with your apps. Check out this article with steps to Set up CarPlay with your iPhone . Specifically:

Get help

If CarPlay doesn't work like you expect, here’s what you can check. After each step, try using CarPlay again.

  1. Make sure that Siri is turned on.
  2. Restart your iPhone and your car. Depending on your car, you might see the CarPlay Home screen when you turn it on. If you don't, look for the CarPlay logo on your car’s display.
  3. If possible, connect your iPhone to a different USB port in your car.
  4. Try a different Lightning to USB cable. Make sure that the cable is certified.
  5. Update to the latest version of iOS.
  6. Check your car’s manual for help. You might need to install firmware updates for your stereo.

Another article you can check out is this one for If an app you installed unexpectedly quits, stops responding, or won’t open

Cheers!
