I would recommend contacting the vendors to find out where they get the chips from. Just a question, have you considered replacing your iMac? Your's is close to 8 years old, do you really want to put money into it?

Oct 19, 2016 2:02 AM in response to rkaufmann87by MichelPM,As long as it's not the logic board or power supply, whatever else my 2009 iMac needs replacing or repair, I am going to have to repair for the forseeable future.
I cannot afford to replace my current iMac anytime soon.
I am goin' to do everything I can to keep my 8 year old iMac running.

Oct 19, 2016 2:10 AM in response to MichelPMby Simon Parker2,me too, I recently added an SSD Fusion drive to my 'old' 2011 Macbook and it flies along. I'm looking to do the same with one of my 2009 iMacs since replacing it is not an option.
