Q: How to remove enabled languages pop-up window on iPad?

Hi,

I am using iPad Pro with the Smart Keyboard, and I have just 2 languages / keyboards installed in Settings. But 50% of the time when I press "Globe" key on my keyboard (especially when I write an email) - it shows me pop-up window with enabled languages, which stays on the screen for a few seconds and really slows down my typing experience.

Is there any way to remove this pop-up window? I just need to press "Globe" and toggle between two languages, that's it. I remember it was like that on my previous iPad that has been stolen, but I can't recall what I actually did to switch it off back to those days.

Many thanks!

iPad Pro, iOS 10.0.2

    Hi alexreev,

I understand that you have two languages configured for your keyboard on your iPad Pro, but when you tap the globe it doesn't automatically switch. I know it's important to be able to easily configure your devices, so I'm happy to help.

Do you experience this issue in every app? Are you having this issue with the Smart Keyboard, the on-screen keyboard, or both?

According to this article, this functionality should work as you remember it, simply switching to the next language that's configured:

Get help with the keyboard on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

    Change the language

If more than one language is on, you can change the language while typing. Follow these steps:

    • Tap   to choose the next language on your keyboard. The chosen language appears on the Space bar.
    • Touch and hold   to display a menu of enabled keyboards. Drag to choose a new keyboard.

In iOS 6 and later, the language of the keyboard determines the language of the dictionary, if one is available for the language.

To troubleshoot this, try disabling one of the languages configured for your keyboard. Afterwards, restart your iPad and enable the language again and test your issue.

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. Cheers!

    Hi,

    Thank you for the reply,

I have this problem with SmartKeyboard only (with on-screen keyboard everything is fine).

    What is happening now:

    On-screen keyboard:

    I hit "globe" and it just switches between two languages like it should, while when I press and hold "globe" icon - it shows me pop-up small window to choose language from;

    Smart Keyboard:

I hit "globe" and pop-up window appears (even when I do not hold the button), interestingly enought it appears only when I switch to the second language in my settings (i.e. when I hit "globe" again to switch from second to main language - it works fine, without showing me pop-up window).

I tried to remove second language, restart and add second one, but still I have this problem. Pressing Control + Spacebar shows the same results, so it's not about "globe" key physically on my Smart Keyboard.

    Thanks.
