    Malwarebytes is an excellent tool for finding malware.  Since it is constantly being updated, download the newest version if you need to search your MBP for malware.  I always delete it after running it.

    Addendum:  Understand that it only runs when you initiate it.  It does NOT run in the background as AV applications do.  (Do not install any AV applications in your MBP. They are NOT needed in a Mac.)

    In my opinion yes. I did it when tons of ads invaded my browser. It has helped. Check other threads in this community and you'll find lot of people satisfied with Malwarebytes(former Adware medic)
