Hello toonytroy,
Thanks for seeking help with slow Wi-Fi on your iPad here in the Apple Support Communities. There are many reasons this can be happening. I am happy to provide something to help you with this.
The first thing we want to ensure is that all your data is safe. You can make a backup in iCloud or iTunes using this article : How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.
Once your data is safe, we can explore some reasons that your wireless connection is slow on your iPad. There is a possibility of interference causing this interruption. Please check this help article for some of the causes and possible solutions to this: Potential sources of Wi-Fi and Bluetooth interference.
You may also potentially be experiencing bandwidth limitation issues. To test this, remove a few devices from your network by turning them completely off, or going to Settings > Wi-Fi, and turning the slider off. Then, power cycle your modem and router. Once the modem and router reconnect, only connect the iPad and test if it is still slow.
I also recommend you delete the history and browsing data using this help article: Safari web settings on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch . Please check the section titled "Clear information from your device". If you are still experiencing issues, please check this help article: Stop pop-up ads in Safari.
The last thing I can recommend at this point is to try your iPad on a known good network such as the network at the Apple Retail Store. This does not mean your home network is not good, it may simply be using a different security that is causing the slowness on your iPad.
Thanks again and have a great rest of your day.
