Q: download el Capitan

Hello everyone.

I have a quite old iMac (it must be from late 2008 or so) and I need to reinstall the operating system, but it will not run Sierra.

Do you know where to download El Capitan from in order to create a USB to install it on the computer?

Thanks in advance and best wishes.

Back up your data, check your applications for compatibility, click here, and download El Capitan from the Mac App Store.

    Dear Niel.

    Thanks for your quick answer.

I've tried to download the installer using the App store, but it does not allow me to download to this machine as my Mac OS version is too new.

The problem is that I cannot use my other computer to download it because it hangs very often (that's why I'm trying to reinstall the OS).

    Any alternative idea?

Hey... You can search the DMG file in google "OS X El Capitan Torrent" - you may find some possible alternative source to download the file.

Do not, under any circumstances, download an installer from other than the App Store. It will be an illegal copy, might have adware/malware associated with it, and potentially could render your computer to unusable.

What OS are you using on the computer now?  menu/About this Mac.

What is the model number of your computer? To check the model number hold down the option/alt key, go to the Apple menu and select System Information.
