Q: iPhone restore from icloud apparently not finished, no stop available

Ok so I restored an iPhone 5s from a 5 once through iTunes and that worked great.  I got an iPhone 7Plus last week-ish and apparently I set a password on the 5S backup (probably when a very bad now-ex-boyfriend was around) and I tried every password under the sun I ever used since the beginning of the internet.  So I decided to try the iCloud.

iCloud started awesome because it gave me 2 Apple ID's to log into and shazzam I'm in and it works!  So it ran for a long time and then errored out saying it finished but some apps couldn't be downloaded, OK no worries I went into the store and brought them back in.  I thought everything was just dandy until I kept getting the little popup saying the restore hasn't finished and press ok to finish or go to the settings to stop it.  I kept restarting the phone and going all over the settings but no clues.

The only clues I have is a bunch of music missing!  Some of it also disappeared from my computer as well and I'm at a loss.  These are from old CD's I don't have anymore.  Another clue is whenever I connect to iTunes on the computer I get an error that it couldn't be synced, even when adding songs it comes up too, very weird.  Then ios 10.0.3 came out and said "you can install this update when your iPhone is finished restoring from the iCloud backup". But I can't stop the restore anywhere!!

I saw this same problem but without the issue of being unable to stop the restore everywhere.  Those solutions didn't work so I'm posting to get some more clues.

    Hey Anniebcongo,

I see that you are running into some issues when attempting to restore from an iCloud backup. I've found an article that provides some advice for this situation, and it can be found below:

If an iCloud restore takes longer than you expected in iOS 9 - Apple Support

Also, I see that you are getting an error when attempting to sync with iTunes. You can find more information about this error code in the following article:

If you see error -54 when you sync with iTunes - Apple Support

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities, and have a great night.

    Cheers.

That didn't really help me.  I plugged it back in and in iTunes I turned the iCloud backup option back on and then the "Stop Restore" option showed up.  When I did that a bunch of new apps installed that I had deleted months and months prior to backing up on the cloud.  I waited until just now to stop the restore.

On the Music, I still lost a bunch of songs and now some weird stuff that I got free (like from Starbucks or the old free song on iTunes).  I deleted these either the same day or soon after YEARS ago!  These are terrible songs and I never would let them take up space on the 16GB iPhone 5S I just came from.  Where did they come from?
