Oct 19, 2016 8:57 AM in response to slaliberte73by slaliberte73,I am using BBEdit to connect to an SFTP server. When I attempt to connect I get.
This server operation couldn’t be completed because the connection was unexpectedly lost (application error code: 22807)
I get the same error if I attempt to SSH to the same domain name.

That sounds like a BBEdit problem. Can you reproduce the problem using ssh or sftp from the command line?

Try creating a new local account and using ssh from there. Try logging into a different server.
On my machine, ssh and sftp seem to work fine. Sierra has deprecated DSA keys. That is the only difference I know of, but that would be a different error.

Oct 20, 2016 6:57 AM in response to etresoftby slaliberte73,I am guilty of being a non-specific user. The message that I get from SSH is:
Unable to negotiate with **.**.**.78 port 22: no matching host key type found. Their offer: ssh-dss
I logged into my Mac using a new account. I went to the same server and got the same message.

That is the same problem I mentioned above. You and/or your server need to update security settings. Here is a page that describes how to do that and some workarounds if you can't: https://library.panic.com/transmit/transmit-host-keys-sierra/
I think in your cast, you would need to do that last item, specifying that your server uses the old, insecure algorithm. But try to setup newer keys first.
