Q: iPad Battery Drain When Completely Shut Down

Ok, I've talked to apple 3 times on this and I am at a stand still.  I have a iPad mini.  When I completely shut it down (power the unit down, sliding the slider) the battery drains at a high rate.  Between Saturday night and Monday night, completely shut off it drained 60%. I charged it back up and playing music on it for 2 hours last night and it only drained 2% in 2 hours. Shut it down and it drained 20% over night. 9:30 pm - 5:17 AM.  I've been playing music on it since 5:17 AM this morning and it only drained 12%. It is now 12:30. I have tried to restore multiple times with itunes, seems like 100 hard restarts (home button with the power button). The other thing that is going on is it will completely go to a glowing black screen when the unit is just reaching 100% charge.  Works fine on the charger, but will freeze up when it reaches 100%.  Then I have to take it off the charger and do the hard reset (home button and power button).  The IOS system and apps all seem to be working just fine.  Apple ran their diagnostics on it and the battery and all passed.  I can live with is locking up after its been charged but the over night draining is whats bothering me.  Does anyone have any thoughts on this?  Any input would be great.

It sounds like battery or other hardware failure. My 1st gen iPad air also drains the battery when switched completely off. I lose between 5% to 10% in about 8 hours, not as severe as yours. Sometimes I don't lose charge or only lose 1% to 2% overnight. It's random. Have you tried running the battery down to 0% until it turns off on its own?

It took two days to drain the battery. about 36 hours of music, hulu streaming none stop and streaming radio.  Stellar battery!!! But I got it to completely drain and shut down.  I charged it to 100%, and as stated before it locked up.  But this time when I disconnected the charger the glowing black screen went away.  Basically it shut itself down.  I hit the power button and it started just fine.  I am going to leave it off for a few hours and see how much it drains.  I will let you know.
