Q: Macbook Pro battery
So, I tried to get my 2010 15" Macbook Pro's battery changed, turns out they no longer have batteries for these models. I mean, the reason why I love Mac's so much, is IMO, they tend to last longer, or rather are able to be used longer than say a Window's counterpart. And in turn, why I don't mind shedding out a little more for them.
But when they can't help me replace a battery in a 5 year old, $2500 laptop, it makes me wish I had bought an $800 PC that I would feel ok with just tossing. I know I could just purchase a new battery off ebay/amazon, but those aren't the same, they don't seem to last long and with all the battery problems Samsung is having right now, would I really feel safe with one from; as the Apple tech put it, a "Mom and Pop backyard shop".
I also know that its not just Apple, even car manufactures are doing things like this these days. I read an article about a guy and his 5-7 year old F150 and how he had problems with the HVAC system and needed a part. However, this part was no longer manufactured and Ford is telling him to find a third party vendor. Unfortunately for him, no third party vendors were manufacturing this particular part, and ultimately Ford had to make one for him.
Sorry for the rant. My question is, has anyone had any luck with third party vendors for MBP batteries? If so, do they ship to Canada? Thanks.
