Q: After iOS 10 Wi-Fi disconnects and doesn't remember my wifi

After upgrading to iOS 10, my ipad's wifi will not remember my home wifi and randomly disconnects from it. Every time I have to type in my wifi network. I then choose my password type and type in my password. When I click "join" it says it can't join the network, but when I then click "dismiss" it actually did join the network. Next, the connection may last for a day or just a few hours and it will automatically disconnect. Then it does not remember the network or any settings. I have to do the same process all over again.

The problem never occurred before the update and began immediately after the update.

Here's what I've tried:

Turning wifi off then on.

Clicking forget network and starting again.

Choosing renew lease.

Resetting network connections.

Turning the iPad off and on again.

(all of these were suggestions from throughout the Internet and Apple support answers)

iPad Air, iOS 10.0.2

The problem is likely how you've set up your router.  My bet is that you're hiding your network ID (SSID) which is a router setting.  Most people hide their network thinking that is a measure of security, but it really isn't since it is trivial for someone to see it even while hidden.  In fact, I had at one time an app on my iPhone which would do this, although Apple pulled the plug on that app (but apps like this exist on other platforms).

If you are hiding your SSID, try turning that off and then your device will remember the network login credentials.
