Q: Cannot Update to OS Sierra

Good Evening,

I am wondering why I cannot update to OS Sierra.  I am currently using OS X El Capitan 10.11.6.  I have almost 208GB storage available.

This is the message I am receiving: We could not complete your purchase - "This version of macOS 10.12 cannot be installed on this computer."  There is a learn more button but when I click it nothing happens.

Thanks for the help.

Tim

It would appear that your computer is not compatible with OS X Sierra. Which model do you have?

Go to Apple menu -> About This Mac -> System Report

Make sure the little triangle next to Hardware is pointing as in the image on the upper left, and Hardware is selected.

Your Model Identifier will tell you if you can upgrade.  This usertip tells you which model identifiers can upgrade:

    Upgrading to Sierra

Note: Sierra is the first Mac OS X version upgrade since the release of Mountain Lion (Mac OS X 10.8) that has changed the minimum system requirements.
