Q: MacBook Pro operating system October 2016

I have a MacBook Pro 13" laptop mid 2012, I would like to know what is the current operating system I should be running it on? as of today 20th October 2016. thanks

The current version is MacOS Sierra version 10.12

I have it installed on my mid-2102 MacBook Air (4GB/128GB) and it runs very well on that.
