Q: Load photos to MacBook but keep from streaming to iPhone/iPad

I just found out the hard way that loading a bunch of photos from my Canon camera to my MacBook creates a giant headache as it then loads all those photos to my iPhone/ipad via the Photo Stream.

Problem is, I don't want photos from my digital Camera's to stream to my iPhone/ipad.  But I'll be damned if I can figure out a way to choose just the pictures I load from my Camera to not Stream or sync with my other devices.

Is there no way to load photos onto my MacBook without sharing them to all my other devices while still leaving Photo Stream and iCloud Photo Library on?  I wish Aperture was still on the Mac.  I guess I might have to use Lightroom to organize my photos I load onto the MacBook.  Can't believe there is not a way to us Photos app to keep all my photos in without being forced to share every photo in their.

Any thoughts People?

    no

you can not have the sharing service on and not share

to stop streaming turn them all off and if you want to only sync certain photos manualy sync using iTunes sync

What a waste of a great app.  Their should be a folder to import to for pics you don't want to stream or a way to choose those photos not to show on the stream.

Now I have to keep pictures in two different locations and use two different applications to maintain my collection and to edit.  Wish they never ditched the Aperture app.  Apple screwed up when they dropped it.

1 - Tell Apple, not the users here - we made no decisions and can not change anything - http://www.apple.com/feedback/

We are users no different than you

2 - this makes no sense at all - please explain

Photos is a very good Photo manager (actually one of the better ones and is free) and can use any editor with the extensions and the External Editors for Photos Extension  ($0.99 from the app store) giving you the best of all worlds

Do I understand that you want to:

    * share images you have taken on phone/ipad with your MB

    * keep photos loaded from camera on MB only?

If so, switch off Photo Stream on all devices and regularly upload the phone/ipad pictures to your Mac via USB.

If you want to share between phone/ipad, switch on PhotoStream on these.

That way you won't 'be forced to share every photo'.
