Q: Transfer from iPhoto to Photos has been disastrous.
In iPhoto for the past several years I have happily stored thousands of photos. Most of them have been stored in Albums. All in all more than 100 albums. Most had to do with travel over the years--from about 1965 to the present. Examples: "China, 1984" or Danube River, 1994," etc. Very nice. Each of the photos was careful labeled with a description: "Shanghai Commune, 1980" or "Budapest, Parliament Bldg., 1992," etc. Now today I purchased a new iPhone 7. I was under the impression that my files, my photo albums, would be transferred to my new iPhone. Not so. It did not happen. The iPhoto app did not transfer at all. Somehow, a few of my iPhoto photos appeared in a new Photos app. But, none of the scores of Albums appeared. And none of the descriptions survived. None.
This is quite devastating to say the least.
I have heard from other Mac users that the transition from iPhoto to Photos has been unwelcome. I agree.
Is there any hope for recovering my thousands of photos, all carefully filed in Albums, all of them carefully described???
I would welcome any positive news.
Thanks.
