iPhone 7plus 128gb vs 256gb storage

Hello all

I am looking to get an idea if I need to order the 256gb version or if the 128gb will be sufficient.

I shot alot of photography and use a Nikon 750 as my dslr using RAW format so files are larger than jpeg. I also have the lighting SD connector to load RAW format photos from my sd card to my ipad pro (Lightroom mobile actually). This is sync'd up to Lightroom on the cloud.

I also shot photos with the phone and plan to use the dng/RAW format and load to the cloud. Finally i will also work on 4k Video however, i am not sure of the file size created for a 30-60 second video.

While on vacation i may shot close to 100gb of photos that get loaded to a device. Once loaded to the cloud some will be deleted off the device. I am trying to determine if the 128gb phone will be sufficient or if 256gb is what I need.

The big question is what is the file size of the 4k video. Any thoughts are welcome.

You are correct. What I am looking for is what is the size of 4k video on the iphone 7. I will have significant number of photos on the phone at anytime. Based on the the 128gb is sufficient. However, i have no experience with 4k video so I have no idea of the size. Based on the storage consumed by photos and apps I'll have x storage remaining. If each 15-60 second clip is y amount in storage, then I can store a specific number of 4k video clips.

If I were you, I would not take any chances on being short on storage space (which would, no doubt, come at a time when you need it most). For $100 USD more (Apple.com site pricing), you'd get double the storage, from 128 GB to 256 GB. So for not much under 10% more $, you will have a lot more leeway for your photos, videos and files -- which are important in your case.

One minute of 4K video at 30 fps is claimed to be 375 MB on iPhone 7 Plus (350 MB on iPhone 7). Source: Settings, Photos & Camera, Record Video.

Oh, I just saw your sig and re-read your original post... I didn't realize that you had the 128 GB 7 Plus model already. Are you still within your return period?

Actually I do not physically have the phone. I placed the order last night. The individual was not able to answer my questions on 4k file size.

This morning I also read a 1 minute 4k file is about 375mb. As you stated in the previous email at that file size gb will be chewed up pretty quickly. The D750 RAW files are about 24mb so s 1 minute 4k video is about the same size as 14-15 RAW photos.

For $100 more you are correct. Its cheap to ensure I dont run out of memory when I need or want it.
