Q: Wifi is but isn't connecting

When I access the Setting menu my m iPad is showing it’s connected to my home wifi in the panel to the right. However, I don’t get the wifi ‘fan’ icon appearing on the top left of the screen and I’m not able to connect to the internet.

The wifi network in question is coming form a BT Smarty Hub, although I don’t think this is an issues as all 5 of the other iDevices in the house (and other wireless items like the Xbox etc) all connect fine.

The fault is intermittent, but is more often present than not. I’ve tried forgetting the network, rebooting iPad and router and resetting network settings. It’s an iPad Air on iOS 10.0.1 (only cos updating to 10.0.2 is kinda tricky with no wifi!)

Any ideas?

Many thanks

    Hi TWH3,

Thank you for contributing to the Apple Support Communities.

It looks like your iPad isn't connecting to your home Wi-Fi network but other devices can connect. You've tried some good steps so far and we're happy to offer a few more ideas.

Can your iPad connect to Wi-Fi networks in other locations? Verifying this is a good way to confirm if there's an issue with your device or a possible incompatibility or issue between your device and wireless router.

From If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch won’t connect to a Wi-Fi network:

    • Try connecting to a Wi-Fi network in a different location. If your device can connect, you’ll need to get help with your Wi-Fi network. If it can’t connect to any Wi-Fi networks, contact Apple.

    All the best.
